Critical Analysis of Sports Logo

The Brief:

The brief was to create a logo for a sports team of our choice. The logo had to have a reference of our Ancient Greek God of mythical creature we were assigned earlier in the semester. The logo also had to represent the sport that we had chosen.

Chosen Sport:

The sport that I had chosen was a Japanese novelty sport "Beetle Battles". The reason why i chose this sport was because of a Beetle called a Hercules beetle. I thought it would of been a good concept and motif because both of the sport and theme combined share a good relationship. I thought the sport would relate very well to the theme because of the relationship that they had with Greek God Hercules. The name Hercules is what connected the sport and the God. I chose the sport by after googling the name Hercules in images, then finding and image of a beetle. Then after remembering that there is a Japanese novelty sport called Beetle Battles. But it seemed like the most relative sport to choose because it the name hercules seemed like it wouldn't relate to many sports. Hercules is a strong fierce, strong, masculine name so it wouldn't really suit a sport like racing because it doesn't involve pure strength. Also there aren't many pure strength sports unlike weight lifting but the name Hercules did really suit the sport.

Logo:

The colours that i chose for the logo is so far black and white since it shows most contrast. The name chosen for the logo is aggressive armor, it relates to the sport and Hercules the most. It relates by the beetles having a strong coat of armor because they have exoskeletons, as well as Hercules had a coat of armor from a beat that he skinned. The font that will be chosen will be a strong impactive, bold font which will suit the the masculine style of the theme. It will be also italic to make the sport look extreme and tough.
